Gripped by obsession's claws, I fought and screamed,
yet it tightened its hold like a snake with its prey,
its venom seeping through the blood and bone,
making it nigh impossible to pull away
for poison has spread, no chance to mend,
since the damage is done and not a cure is in sight;
none could heal the mind, or convince the soul
to part the heart from its most treasured light.

I wrote this for Creative Writing class, where we're supposed to write this one-sentence story thing.
